Trying to read this 'Pilgrimage to Al-Madinah and Mecca' by Sir Richard Burton on my Kindle -- but TTS starts~stops~starts~stops after a page or so
it simply quits.

This is a _very_ good read. Some of the language is dated--as is the the sense of time and place. But, it's worth the effort. I think it may give insight into a lot of things middle-eastern.
